Magnesium

Hypomagnesaemia

Patients with magnesium <0.5 mmol/L (or <0.7 with symptoms) need i.v. magnesium to correct the deficit. This may be done in the Medical Day Unit (via switchboard 01872 250000), or occasionally the SDMA clinic if time and capacity permit, but the patient needs cardiac monitoring throughout.
